I lived in Tokyo, Japan, for 10 years before moving to Lake Forest, Illinois. Growing up in a mixed Japanese and Chinese household, I was taught from an early age to appreciate different cultures and perspectives. As I got older, I volunteered all around the world, further exposing me to people from diverse backgrounds. Last summer, I took a group of high schoolers to Japan, where we connected through volleyball and cultural exchange.
